The drama industry in Pakistan is growing very well. All this is because of the great scripts by the writers and the fantastic acting skills of our actors. Like every other drama industry, the Pakistani Drama Industry owns some unique features that make it exceptional and that is why Pakistani dramas are loved all around the world. Here I am going to highlight some top features that make Pakistani Dramas outstanding.

Relatable Content

What makes Pakistani Dramas loved and cherished on both national and international levels is being based on reality. People can easily connect with Pakistani Dramas because most of them have real-life events. Unlike fairytales, the fiction of Pakistani dramas is more relatable and acceptable. You get so emotionally invested that they become unforgettable even after the end.

Social Issues

The Pakistani Drama Industry is famous for highlighting social issues. From everyday crises to taboo topics, Pakistani Dramas sensitively handle them all. The main idea is to point out the social diseases and propose a genuine solution for them. Udaari, Dobara, Dil Na Umeed To Nahi, Surkh Chandni, Bedardi, Ghisi Pitti Muhabbat, Fraud, and many other serials comes under this criteria.

Acceptable Length

Other than daily soaps, most Pakistani Dramas have up to 30–33 episodes, one episode per week. It helps the audience to enjoy the whole drama without getting bored.

Chemistry Between On-screen Couples

Other than a strong script what makes a Pakistani Drama remarkable is the chemistry of its characters. There are hundreds of fandoms of such on-screen couples. Pairs like Fawad Khan-Mahira Khan, Humayun Saeed-Mehwish Hayat, Farhan Akhtar-Iqra Aziz, Affan Waheed-Hira Mani, and Ahmad Ali Akbar-Yumna Zaidi are rocking the industry.

Romantic Comedy

Where 80 % of the dramas are on social issues, the remaining 20% win the heart of the audience by being romantic comedies. Most of these light-hearted dramas are aired during Ramadan. Shehnai, Suno Chanda [season 1,2], Ishq Jalebi, Hum Tum, Chaudry and Sons, Chupkey Chupkey, Prem Gali, Barat series, and many more.

Spirituality

Spirituality is also a prominent factor in Pakistani Dramas. Such dramas highlight inner conflicts and peace. Khuda Aur Muhabbat [season 1,2,3], Raqs-e-Bismil, Alif Allah Aur Insaan, Ranjha Ranjha Kardi, Alif, Aye Mushtekhaq, and many others are based on the same theme, hence loved by the audience.

Love Triangles

Love triangles are pretty common in Pakistani Dramas. It can be both hero and villain rooting for the same girl, or the vamp trying hard for the hero, creating misunderstandings between him and his love. But like always, true love wins…

Karma and Redemption

If you are watching a Pakistani Drama and can not stand the villain or his audacities, then don’t worry about it, Karma will take good care of him. Ishq Mein Kaafir, Jalan, and Balaa are some examples of intense karma. But you know before karma hits you, the choice of redemption is always there. Alif, Aye Mushtekhaq, and Khaani show that a change of heart can happen at any moment and it will guide you to the right path.

The Classics

Classical dramas are living rent-free in our hearts. Humsafar, Zindgi Gulzar Hai, Dastaan, Dur-e-Shehwar, and Shehr-e-Zaat are still watched and loved by both national and international audiences. Even today many dramas like Sabaat, and Mere Humsafar, are made on similar themes.
